who is King Jest?

If I had to describe my music, it would be with two words: mentally ill. For me, music is a source of joy, so I write with the sole purpose of having fun. If life were to be taken seriously, then why is it so ridiculous? I hope that if you are reading this, you, too, are as goofy and daffy as I. As a great joker once said, “Why so serious?”

We all learned through history that kings entertained themselves with court jesters. Now, I am donning both of these roles as the self proclaimed King Jest, the jester king. Outrageous and outspoken, I strive to entertain with a sense of ironic indignity. I invite you to ride this rollercoaster with me, to laugh in my face and spit in my eye, and to lend me your ears so that I may tickle them with my titillating tongue.

It may come as no surprise that many sources of my inspiration are singers that also spread messages of tomfoolery, such as Lady Gaga, Freddy Mercury, Liberace, Liza Minelli, and Gwen Stefani. But like these artists, I also have a sensitive side that I do showcase from time to time. Musically, I strive to write songs that you can’t help but dance along with. I want my music to be an outlet for people to let go of whatever is troubling them for a short while and rediscover their joy and child-like silliness.

My debut album, Life in a Funhouse, parades these ideals of mine. With an upbeat tempo and laughable lyrics, I hope to make you smile and swing. All the world’s a dancefloor, and I offer up this album as a soundtrack to your fantastic life. And hey, if you happen to like it, please share it with the other clowns in your life.

From this king of fools, I proclaim: go forth, be merry, and make a damn mess of everything! There’s too much good in this world to get bogged down, so lift your head and see the sun. I’ll be waiting for you on the dancefloor, ready to sing all the music in my head.
